Keeping the Right Perspective

January 31, 2017

By Dr. Ramiro Zuniga

Over the years, I have often been asked to share practices as a technology leader that have made a difference.  I have always been happy to do so.  I have always felt that all of us, as educators, are in the same boat.  We are all looking for better ways to ultimately serve our students.  And so I share.

December 22, 2016

By Ramiro Zuniga

It goes without saying that it is not easy being in a leadership position.  There are so many things to deal with beyond simply doing the work.  There are personnel issues.  There are morale issues.  There are political issues.  So how does one deal with this?  Good question.

Curriculum & Technology Divided

October 11, 2016

Differences between Curriculum and Technology occur often with each side remaining steadfast. Over the last three weeks, I have had the opportunity to observe two different individuals going through very different scenarios related to their job seeking activities.  The first is an individual at the start of her career.  She has recently interviewed with three different companies and has already received two job offers.  The second individual is a seasoned professional that has been interviewed by several companies and has yet to receive a single offer.

Curriculum & Technology Directors Divided

June 13, 2016

By Dr. Ramiro Zuniga

I recently participated in a technology integration forum in Austin, Texas.  Among the participants were Superintendents, Assistant Superintendents, Technology Directors, and Curriculum Directors.  As technology forums go, this one was typical.  Keynote speakers shared stories of success and the strategies behind them.  Breakout sessions consisted of district leaders sharing their individual stories and engaging the audience in detailed discussions.

Do You Know a Technology Visionary?

May 12, 2016

By Dr. Ramiro Zuniga

I can’t tell you how many times I have heard of a technology leader being considered a Visionary over the span of my career. I will say that I have heard it so often that it seems to be more of an expectation for all technology leaders, whether directors or CTOs. I’m not going to argue whether the title or the expectation is deserved. I am not going to say whether it is fair or not. I am going to focus on characteristics and actions that I believe lead to this thought.
